Focus

Focusing is part of our everyday life. There are some things that need more attention than others. When it comes down to it, I can focus on whatever I set my mind on. But believe me when I say if I’m not that interested or if I am just feeling unmotivated, I can easily lack focus and my attention span becomes that of a child. For the most part, I always get it done!

Some of the things I do to help with focus is to do whatever it is while it’s bright out (if you can, at least). I am very specific about things. Depending on what it is, I’ll most likely postpone it till the next day if it gets too late. Grrr.

I pick a location I know I’ll benefit from. For example, if I needed to concentrate on writing then ideally I’d pick a spot with open space and minimal distractions. If I wanted to concentrate on a bomb ass workout, I’d go to the gym. It’s hard for me to workout at home because there are so many other things for me to do there. Whereas the gym is basically only used for 1 thing.

I clear my mind the best way that I can. Because let’s be real, my mind is rarely ever 100 percent cleared!

Or I’ll try to prioritize one thing at a time this way I don’t find myself trying to start a whole new project without even finishing the first one.

It’s especially hard to concentrate on those days when I’m struggling with my depression but mostly my anxiety. Which seems like a lot more often these past few months. There are times when I’m just in my own little world and I don’t want to have to think too hard about anything. Then there are days when I want to be productive and concentrate on everything. Hey, that’s just me though. Right? Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everybody!

  1. I have a hard time concentrating sometimes because of my anxiety and depression too but I think writing a list of everything that I need to do helps me a lot because then I can do everything one by one and cross it off the list. I also try to do everything when it’s bright out as well- I feel like my concentration gets worse at night.

  2. Same I leave my curtains a little open so I can get some sunlight in the morning and now that I’m stuck at home I’ve pushed my bed next to the window so I can get some sun while doing my online classes!

  3. The weathers not that great yet but I have been taking walks for a few minutes just to get some sun and fresh air. How about you? Have you been able to get some sun?

  4. That’s good. Any fresh air is better than no fresh air! Over here the weather has been extremely nice (high 50s to even 70 degrees)! So I’ve definitely been taking advantage. I especially want baby Isaiah to get some sun too!
