23 Things I’ve Learned in 23 Years

Hi guys! Happy 4th! I hope everyone is having a great day. Today is my 23rd birthday! #TaurusSeason! I’ve had a really good day for having a quarantined birthday. I am so grateful.

An amazing blogger Pooja, of Lifesfinewhine has also just celebrated a birthday and she posted 23 Lessons in 23 Years. You should definitely go check her out. I got the idea from her! I hope you enjoy!

1. You’re never fully ready for anything.

No matter what, it seems like life always has another challenge for me. There’s never really any preparation you just have to do your best. I had a baby last year and I wasn’t even close to ready. Fast forward and Isaiah is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

2. You cant satisfy everyone.

I spent a lot of time worrying about a lot about what other people thought instead of myself. Since only doing what makes me happy, I’ve felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders. Do you, boo!

3. Don’t get upset over things you cannot control.

This is a hard one and I’m still working on it but it’s so true. I can’t predict the future or change anything that has already happened. But I can do is control my reactions. I allow myself to feel whatever it is but then try to move on.

4. Be selfish if you have to.

It’s been known that most selfish people take better care of themselves. Worrying about everything and everyone can be exhausting. You don’t have to please everyone.

5. Health is essential.

Obviously, I know I have to keep myself healthy, but I rarely took it seriously. It’s so important that you take care of yourself. It will be better in the long run. I’m going to stop using the word “diet” because it’s never that easy. Instead, I watch what I eat, how much I am eating, and try to get some sort of daily exercise. Usually, I take long walks!

6. Meat isn’t everything.

I am a huge meat person. I love meat! I used to have to eat some type of meat with most of my meals. Since my boyfriend has gone vegan I have also been exploring a lot more vegan/ vegetarian options and it made all the difference in my life!

7. Don’t be afraid to speak your mind.

If you have something to say then say it (unless it’s meant to hurt someone, then keep that to yourself). You feel so much better knowing you’ve gotten everything off your chest. Also, you never know what effect your words might have on someone!

8. If you want something only you can get it.

Don’t just sit around expecting things to happen right before you. No one is obligated to do anything for you. Only you can truly go out and get exactly what you want.

9. Onions are your friend.

I HATED onions growing up. I didn’t want anything to do with them. I just recently started eating them about 2 and a half years ago. They literally take all my dishes to the next level. I love them raw and cooked!

10. Ask for help.

I’ve always wanted to do things for me but sometimes It’s just impossible. Becoming a parent has taught me how important it is to ask for help. It’s okay to have someone help lighten your load.

11. No one can read your mind.

If you’re upset with someone about something then let them know. If you don’t want to do something, say something. The other person probably has no idea what you’re thinking. I can count multiple times I’ve been mad at my boyfriend for not knowing why I’m mad! He didn’t even know! LOL!

12. Having an attitude all the time gets you nowhere.

What’s the point? Having an attitude won’t really change anything. It will only bring more negativity and we don’t want those vibes.

13. Art and cooking is my ultimate therapy.

I used to see a therapist and she was lovely. Unfortunately, I had to stop going because I couldn’t agree to certain terms. You can check out this old story HERE(link). After a while, I found a new therapist but it only lasted 2 sessions. I didn’t even want to look for a new one. I’ve come to terms that I can have my own therapy in the comfort of my own home.

14. It’s okay to cry.

We’re human. We have emotions. Everyone does it! Most of the time I just need a good cry and I’ll be good ENOUGH to go.

15. Labor and delivery was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my whole entire life.

That’s it.

16. Parents deserve a lot of respect.

I definitely didn’t understand how challenging it was to raise a child. Both mentally and physically.

17. Have patience.

I usually have no patience but I’m getting better at it! You especially need patience with a newborn! It makes things less stressful as well.

18. Be honest.

It’s better, to tell the truth than to lie. Lying just bring more problems in the future.

19. Some people deserve second and maybe third chances.

I totally get that people make mistakes (forgivable ones) but sometimes life is better with that person than without. I never judge anyone’s situation anymore because of there’s no way for me to know how they truly feel.

20. Don’t judge.

There’s a reason for everything. Unless you’ve walked in that person’s shoes, you don’t really have a say.

21. Instead of focusing on whats wrong, focus on what’s right.

I’ve been getting a lot better on focusing more on the positive. It usually ends up with me talking to myself but that’s okay. Positive affirmations for the win!

22. Make memories.

This is so important to me! Make memories! Take pictures. Talk about the good times. I cannot wait to create many more memories, especially for my son.

Love everything about yourself. Flaws and all. It boosts your confidence a ton! No one can tell me NOTHING!

As always, thanks so much for reading! Questions, comments, and feedback are always welcome. If you enjoyed this post, please comment, like and share! Make sure to check out my Instagram; @T_scorner 💋

  2. So glad you did the 23 lessons post! I definitely agree with all your points. I used to hate onions too but now I totally love them in food. And I used to be a pretty repressed person emotionally but you are so right- it’s okay to cry and to feel things. Honestly I feel so much better being an emotional crybaby then I ever did being repressed and “tough”.

Oh and I absolutely love your outfit you look so beautiful!
