Tis’ the season to be jolly! Welcome back to day 3 of Blogmas. I absolutely love this time of year. It instantly brings me comfort. Christmas was always a really special time of year while I was growing up. I come from a big family so there was joy everywhere you looked. I give my mom so many props because she always made sure our holidays were magical. We’d start by getting a fresh Christmas tree and taking out our decorations from our secret hideaway storage area. It used to be so fun crawling under there in the dark looking for decorations. I was the more squeamish one because I was terrified of cobwebs. We filled the tree up with a ton of ornaments and decorations. I would love to see a picture of my old tree.
One of my favorite things to do was bake the Christmas themed sugar cookies and sneaking some dough to eat on the side. Yum! Or watching movies with the fam and drinking hot chocolate filled with mini marshmallows. These are just some of the little things that meant so much to me. I can’t wait to make even more memories this season. Like last time, my boyfriend and I came together and created a list of things we’d like to do this month and throughout the winter. I hope you guys can get some ideas and make sure to let me know what you want to do down in the comments below!
Get a Christmas tree
This is number one on the list for a reason! It’s kind of like a Christmas staple to us. Once the tree is here it’s go time. This will actually be my first real tree since I was about a preteen. It’s so exciting!
Decorate our apartment
I’ve always been a fan of decorating but since I’ve moved I’ve taken decorating to a whole new level. Now I have so much more room for creativity. This also gives me the chance to recreate the magical Christmas my mom put together for me but for my son. I’ll be posting my décor haul soon, so stay posted for that!
Snowboarding
I’ve never been snowboarding before. My boyfriend is a very adventurous outdoorsy kind of guy so he chooses to do more of the extreme things. Am I nervous? Um, hell yea! Will I still do it? Um, hell yea!
Build a snowman
Do you wanna build a snow man (to the tune in Frozen)? 🎶 This year I want to build a real snow man. I’ve never made one before Or at least I’ve attempted and completely left Frosty abandoned. This year I want to make him come to life by adding the buttons the carrot nose, you name it, he’ll have it. Does anyone remember the snowman that Rory and Lorelai built that looked like Bjork?
Visit a cabin for the weekend
A nice getaway in a secluded area sounds nice and romantic. This would definitely be something I’ll be looking forward to. Since the pandemic we haven’t gotten to do nearly as much of the stuff we would have liked. Staying in a cabin reminds me of my Pine Forest Cheer Camp days. Good times!
Winter painting
Painting has become our thing and we enjoy every second of it. It started at our first paint and sip. We’ve since started painting at home and hanging our art around. It feels extra special that our walls are covered in work we’ve done personally. It adds that special homey touch.
Skiing
This is another adventure I’m not ready for but I’m still willing to fall down a slope for. Anyone experienced in skiing that can give me some tips?
S’mores
Who doesn’t love a warm melty dessert in the cold weather? I want to replace milk chocolate with cookies and cream chocolate. Yum.
Drink a ton of hot chocolate
Another delightful cold weather treat I like to indulge in is hot chocolate with a ton of mini marshmallows. I love when the marshmallows are nearly melted and they leave a creamy feel to the drink and sometimes a little marshmallow mustache.
Watch holiday movies
Holiday movies are a must or is it even holiday season? My boyfriend and I have been compiling a list of our favorite Christmas movies that we must watch this year. My all time favorite move is The Polar Express. What’s your favorite holiday movie?
Magic of Lights Show
The Magic of Lights is a fun drive thru holiday lights show. I’ve never been but it looks spectacular. I love the fact that we get to stay safe and comfy in our car and not have to worry about any social distancing or masks. I think Isaiah would really enjoy this as well.
Sledding
Would you believe me if I said I can’t remember any sledding experiences? Because I don’t recall ever going sledding. I hope that’ll change this year.
Gingerbread house contest
We can be a pretty competitive couple which means we turn everything in a contest. This month we are going to have the ultimate gingerbread house making contest and I plan on winning this time since I lost our pizza making contest. I’m more excited to eat it after!
Make vegan chili
I had this on my Fall bucket list but I never got a chance to make it. I’m still so eager to make and try it so don’t worry it’s coming! Who else loves chili? What are some of your favorite sides to go with?
Make Christmas cookies
Did you know that tomorrow is National Cookie Day? Maybe you can guess what tomorrow’s post will be. This year I’ll be making my own Christmas sugar cookies from scratch and decorating them with fun colors.
Family photo
Yes, I’ll be making my own Christmas cards this year and I’m so excited to share them. We got matching family pajamas as well so watch out for a cuteness overload!
Listen to Christmas music
There’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit than by blasting a ton of Mariah Carey. As soon as December 1st hit the tunes went on. I love singing at the top of my lungs thinking no one can hear me. Don’t you?
Watch The Polar Express specifically
The Polar Express just has to have its own category because the movie is just that good. 2 years ago I had the joy of going on the train ride in person! It really was magical and I totally recommend. One year I watched the movie 13 times in a row. I just left it on repeat.
Go ice skating
Ice skating is so much fun! Especially when you go with someone who doesn’t know how (cough my bf cough). It’s so funny to watch them glued to the wall or taking miniature steps.
Play in the snow
I can’t wait to say “I smell snow.” As a kid I loved getting to go out and play in the snow on our off days. My mom bundled me up so snug I was wobbling. I wonder how Isaiah will take to the snow. Last year he was just a little cute blob.
Have a spa night
Lastly, I’ve been trying to have a spa night for the longest. We’ve got foot scrubs, hydration masks, and so much more. It gets hard when Isaiah feels left out and starts to cry because he cant do facials and foot scrubs either. One day little man.

I want a good blizzard this year. all we’ve had so far is tons of rain…
I’ve skied since I was 8 so my tip is to focus going side to side and instead of looking straight down, just take it a little bit at a time. you can always take lessons too. 🙂

Good list ! I’m so excited that you’ll be going snowboarding. I used to do that with my cousin when I lived up north in the moutains . I loved the fresh powder. I wasn’t the best snowboarder and could only do small jumps and usually just ride down the slopes , but it was still so much fun . Let me know how you like it ❄️

Such a great list of things to try this season Angela and they’re apparently safe in light of the pandemic. I like that skiing one and kindly share how it goes when you’re done.
Cheers to a happier Xmas season.

I love this list! Several of them are already on my must-do Christmas list such as decorating and having a Christmas tree, but there are others I could adapt.. except the ones involving snow since I live in the tropics. 🙂

Omg you absolutely have to make vegan chili- I make it all the time in fall and winter! My favourite way to eat it is making vegan chili cheese fries or eating the chili with cornbread.
