We’re Moving! & Coming Back to YouTube

Hi everyone and happy Sunday! How are you guys today? I hope well! If you all know (or maybe you don’t), I’ve been extremely slacking with my posts. Whenever I did post I mentioned how my mind was always preoccupied with so many other things. Well today I am finally going to share those things.

It’s no secret that my boyfriend and I were unexpectedly blessed with our beautiful baby boy Isaiah. We’ve always lived apart but It didn’t matter because we didn’t share anything nearly as unreal and perfect as Isaiah.

As time went on it became harder and harder to be our own little household when we were always in the mix with others. We saw each other as often as we could but it still wasn’t the same. We hoped and hoped that one day we would be able to have a place of our own. A place where we can be safe together. A place we can raise our son together. It seemed like ages. I can’t even count how many times I’ve cried just wishing the 3 of us could be under the same roof. Especially with all, that’s going on.

In mid-April (I believe) we started to look for apartments. Now I’ve never done anything like this before. I’ve always lived with my family. I’ve never actually had to do “real adulting”. I’m being honest. I know I can be honest with you guys. I’ve always been the baby of the family. So this was such a huge step for me.

We probably spent too many hours on our phones and computers looking for suitable apartments for the 3 of us. I remember looking for hours until my eyes burned or my fingers and hands were numb. I didn’t know that looking for an apartment would be the only easy part. Being denied was hard. Being denied solely because of you? Even harder.

I definitely don’t have the greatest credit score in the world and I’m not ashamed to say it. Obviously, I wish it wasn’t that way but it is. The first apartment we saw was spectacular. LITERALLY. It was way more than what we could ever ask for. I had high hopes! We both did. Especially, by the way, the real estate agent was talking. By a couple of real estate agents later, I realized they all kind of talked the same. Anyway because of my score, we were denied. The next one just so happened to be next door. We had no hope. The next apartment ended in the same disappointment.

I was so over the process. I kept thinking I was letting my family down. I wanted to give up. Until this one lady who we’ll call Jamie gave us a chance. This brings us to the beautiful apartment we can now call home.

I try not to regret things because I can’t go back in the past but I wish I knew more about credit and how to maintain a good score. I’ve definitely learned my lesson but this stuff is so important for life. I’m just glad everything is falling into place now.

Fast forward to visiting the apartment for the first time…

I was never able to go see the apartment in person. The timing never worked out and I most definitely could not bring Isaiah. Instead I made do with videos and the pictures from the listing. Upon arrival, I still couldn’t believe it was real life.

I went specifically to deep clean the apartment. I had a whole schedule in mind but I ended up running late. I also HAD to stop for food because I was so hungry. That took up a majority of the time.

When I finally arrived I couldn’t wait to start cleaning. of course after doing my cleaning supplies haul. Soon after realized that the living room and bedroom didn’t have light fixtures and I had to do those first. So it was a race against the sun at that point. (The dollar store has a surprising amount of cleaning supplies! The one near me had a great selection. I got some things there for a dollar that I would’ve gotten elsewhere for like 3 or 4 dollars. Ie; sponges, scrubbers, brooms)

I then noticed I left cleaning supplies in the car. It was definitely a rough night. If you watch my new youtube video you can definitely tell by the end. This brings me back to my next topic… I’m back on Youtube!

One of the greatest gifts I got for my birthday was my camera. I love it so much! I would be a fool not to put it to use.  About 2 years ago I posted my first youtube video that I hate. I told myself I wasn’t going to post another video until I felt like there was going to be a huge change in my life. That time is now!

I’m actually so proud and happy with my first video back. I can actually say I had a fun time doing it! It’s also my first time using this new software with a new laptop. Let’s just say I watched a good amount of tutorials.

While I was editing, Isaiah got close enough to slam as many keys as he could and completely changed the software set up. At that point I was over it. Lol! I thought if I touched the wrong thing all my hard work would be gone forever but if I left it I would be safe.

  1. I’m so glad you were finally able to get an apartment- I know it’s something that was really important to you. It’s awesome that the three of you are going to be able to stay together now.

The whole credit score thing is so relatable. So we don’t have credit scores in Kenya- people just rent the apartment to you if they like you- and when I came here for the first time I was just like oh no I’m screwed because I didn’t have a credit score because I literally didn’t even have a credit card. Anyway I finally found an apartment that didn’t mind the credit score thing but it was definitely a struggle so I understand how difficult it must have been for you.

I can’t wait to check out your YouTube video!!
