O Canada

Recently I found out that I had family in Canada! Pretty cool, I think.

Do you guys remember when you were younger and you dreaded when the family was coming over? It required you to stop what you were doing to clean your room, make yourself look presentable, AND fix your attitude.

Last year was a very hard year for my grandma. She lost her brother. May God rest his soul, and to see her upset shattered my heart to pieces. She was able to receive a piece of him through his family, who were the lovely folks who visited from Summerland, BC, Canada.

Summerland is located in the interior of British Colombia, on the west side of Okanagan Lake.

I’ve always had this general idea in my head about Canada. The idea is that it would be cold and snowy. Look how wrong I was.

They too have warm summers and beautiful green lands.

I also thought that everyone there would be so full of joy, aye. Not surprisingly, I wasn’t wrong about that but I’m sure that has nothing to do with where they’re from. As for the “aye”, I won’t lie, I have heard a few of them. This reminds me of a family trip I took to Wildwood when I was a pre-teen. I met a boy from Quebec who told me he thought I had an accent. I was shocked because I thought he was the one with the cool accent.

I got to see pictures of their beautiful orchard and some bright red plump tomatoes they grew.

I even got my own personal concert of Canada’s national anthem IN FRENCH! Which was absolutely beautiful by the way.

Oh, and word on the street is there are nearly 200 wineries! Now, I’m sold.

It was such a pleasant visit. I always value spending time with family and meeting new people. A huge plus if I get to learn about other places on the map. It was an even better joy to see my grandma so happy.

I enjoy these opportunities where I can get educated about people, places and things I am not familiar with. Let me know where you’re from in the comments below!

I can’t wait to visit Canada!
