6 Small Things You Can Do to Brighten Someone’s Day

There’s no doubt that we are somewhat living in a world of chaos right now. Between the time of year that it is and who knows what else someone might be going through at home. A small gesture may be everything to someone. Keep reading to find out 6 small things you can do, that’ll brighten up someone’s day immediately!

1. Smile

I can’t tell you how many times a stranger’s bright smile has lifted my mood. To know that there are still so many kind people in the world makes my heart warm. Smiling helps reinforce positivity in our brains and it’s free 99! How much easier does it get than this?

2. Write a note

A personal note is one of my favorite ways to remind someone that I’m thinking of them. I get to add my little doodles and finish it off with a pretty signature or it’s for the love of my life, then a lip print, he can’t miss. The point is, it can uplifting for both you and the recipient. It will be a fun surprise your loved one can hold on to forever. I still have handwritten notes I’ve kept for over 10 years that still brighten my day.

3. Send a message

Don’t have time to write a note? That’s okay, send a text, or even better, give that special someone a call. A good morning text or wishing someone well that day is a quick and efficient way to let someone know they’re on your mind. That alone can be enough to give someone a mega mental boost!

4. Lend a hand

If you notice someone may be a little overwhelmed, offer them a way to relieve some pressure. That can be by helping to make a delicious home-cooked meal, giving someone a ride, or carrying someone’s groceries up to their apartment. The list is endless!

5. Give a compliment

Who doesn’t love a genuine compliment? Just one compliment is enough to turn someone’s whole day around. This is a sure way to help someone feel how valued and special they are.

6. Say “thank you”

With Thanksgiving approaching very shortly, we talk a lot about what we are thankful for and so on. Tell your loved one directly, how thankful you are for all they’ve done for you. Remind them how important their presence is to you and why. Also, a simple thank you will go a long way and not just for loved ones. Please thank anyone and everyone who does something kind for you. It’s polite and it shows your appreciation.

As you can see, some of these things are all things we probably are doing already. I don’t think we realize how simple it can be to brighten someone’s day. I hope that you’ll use some of these suggestions to help make someone smile today!
