Lighthearted

Boy, I cannot believe we are so close to entering the new year. I always say time flies by but this year it seemed like I went to sleep, woke up, and that was it. Not to mention my little man is walking all on his own, mostly eating on his own, and responding with the word “yes” (sometimes sounds like esssssss). Time flew.

At the beginning of the year, I decided to pick one word to go off of for the rest of the year. The word I chose was lighthearted. You can check out why I chose it here.

Lighthearted– (of a person or their behavior) cheerful and carefree.

Looking back, I think I did a wonderful job of living up to it especially with all that’s happened. When choosing my word of the year I did not expect to enter a world of doom (COVID-19). I never expected so many disappointments and heartache for not me but the entire population. So much has happened that could have set me back but it didn’t. It pushed me forward.

Amid all this unhappiness, I’ve managed to continue to successfully raise my baby boy. We’ve moved into our own place as a family. My blog has done better than ever and so much more. While trying to care for others, I’ve also made the time to care for myself in the best way possible.

Remember why I started this blog in the first place? It was because of my mental health. By learning to stay in my lane mentally, and not letting unimportant things get to me, my mind has been open to so many new ideas, people, places, foods, things, anything you name it. I feel no weight on my shoulders. I feel know so many opportunities are going to come my way. I wonder what my word will be next year. Stay tuned to find out! ✨

Did you have a word of the year? If so what was it? Do you feel you’ve accomplished what you’ve set your mind to? Thinking about doing one for the new year? Make sure to let me know in the comments below!

  1. Adaptability. That’s my word for 2020! I had to adapt to various circumstances and learn how to be flexible. These circumstances were out of my control, and yet I still had to make it work.

  2. What a great choice of word for the year! Who would have ever guessed the world would come a halt in March. And yes, every time I visit your blog, I leave a little bit happier and encouraged.
So cool that your baby is walking and talking already. Record his talking, because years later they will bring a smile to everyone. I have random ones of the kids, and we just love listening to them. They can’t believe they sounded that baby and “when I was young.” lol.
I didn’t have a word. Too hard to pinpoint, and I’m not sure I will have one for 2021.
Have a great evening and take care!

  3. It makes me so happy that I can help make you smile! Now I’m smiling.☺️ The “when I was young” is hilarious. I will definitely keep trying to record these moments. I love memories. Have a great day!

  4. You made it through your blogmas, yay! I would have to say my word of the year was patience and grace. Telling myself it was ok to feel sadness and depression. That it was only temporary and I did not have to rush fix myself, everything would work out and eventually I would heal.

  5. Let’s keep smiling and find joy in the small things! Covid has taught me that contentment comes from simple things and to be grateful for what I have. I hope I remember this as I start this new year.
Stay well and record those baby moments! They are precious to reflect later.
    Stay well and healthy!!
