Are you waking up in the morning already sure that you can’t go on with your day? If you answered yes, then it might be time to take a mental health day.
A mental health day is a day you take for yourself for reasons other than physical illnesses. This is strictly for your mental well-being and relieving stress. Or simply because you just want to! A mental health day is probably one of the best things you can do before you completely burn yourself out and go crazy. By crazy I mean punching every single person who comes your way… Many people use their mental health days many different ways. Some people like to relax (i.e. catching up on sleep, reading, art therapy). Other people might like to be more active (i.e. day trips, exercise, cute dates). This is only meant to help you feel refreshed. Below I have put together 5 signs that reveal its time to take a mental health day.
- Everything is in slow motion
This happens to me often and it is one of the key signs I go by when I have had enough. It is exactly as it sounds but with your body and mind. I actually start walking much slower, talking slower, and sleeping excessively. Now think about it, when you have this low amount of energy, you are probably already letting yourself go. What I mean by that is not exercising, not showering, and basic hygienic needs. These are important!
2. Feeling depressed/sad is an understatement
No matter what you try to do, you just can’t cheer up. You are now the Debbie Downer of your crew. Crying has become your favorite hobby, too. Now wipe up those tears!
3. Tossing and turning
Isn’t it annoying when you can’t fall asleep at night? Stress and anxiety can definitely trigger sleepless nights. These nights might include lots of sweating and even bad dreams. Who wants to have bad dreams? ):
4. You are distracted
You just can’t get your head in the game. You even forgot what the word focus meant. That means you probably aren’t getting much of your priorities done. Boo!
5. Overwhelmed
Everything is piling up from all of the procrastination, as well as the emotions from all those hidden feelings. This can be a lot to handle. When I feel too overwhelmed, it triggers my irritability. I start to have the attitude of a mean girl. I also become extremely impatient. I don’t like when I get that way…
