Hi, there ladies and gents! What’s everyone up to these days? Sometimes I get annoyed at myself for not doing enough but then I just rethink the circumstances. Like okay, we are in the middle of an insane winter and we can’t forget the pandemic. Oh and to put a little more icing on the cake, I got a flat tire the other night. All I wanted was some carvel but that’s beside the point. In today’s post ill be sharing a simple day in our lives and what it’s typically been like at home.

7:50 am
Good morning! Today I woke up surprisingly early and before Isaiah. It’s going to be a good day. I laid in bed for a good 5 minutes trying to determine if I wanted to stay in bed or be productive. I haven’t gotten up to do yoga in a bit so I thought now would be the best time. So I got out of bed, went straight for the bathroom, then began my morning yoga session.
8:05 am
Not even about 6 minutes into my 10 minute morning sesh Isaiah wakes up. Luckily for me, I premade his bottle so I changed his diaper and gave it to him. There were only a few minutes left so It was a nice uninterrupted finish. It was such a calming morning until it wasn’t. Isaiah completely wiped out by running into the wall. It was pretty bad. I couldn’t believe what I had just witnessed. Long story short, Isaiah loves to run back and forth. Sometimes even with his head down. He won’t pick his head back up until it’s too late. Like today. I wanted to cry right there with him. I was so scared but I had to show strength. I went and got a frozen bag of peas and the Tylenol. Then I continued to console him. Quite a morning after a calm yoga sesh huh?
9 am
After such a hectic start to our morning, I decided to make us a yummy breakfast. I made for us some pancakes and hash browns. I accompanied mine with a fried egg and some bacon. Isaiah had his with a side of blueberries. Most of his food ended up on the floor. *sigh*
10 am
After breakfast we headed on over to the living room for his typical free time. It’s so amazing to see him learn new things each day or to watch how he interacts with his toys. He’s so much more interactive with his toys and he includes me in the fun. For example, he’ll put the blocks in my hand for me so that I know he wants me to stack them as well. He loves stacking things. This is also his TV time. Mama’s still tired in the morning so tv helps things move a little more smoothly.
11 am
Isaiah is such an active boy. It’s becoming harder and harder to get him to take naps. Today he went down for a nap so early I was shocked. Although I wanted to nap with him, I was still pretty shaken up about the incident from earlier. So instead of napping with him like I usually try to, I laid next to him and worked on a blog post.
1 pm
I’m surprised by how long he napped. Isaiah woke up so happy when he saw that I was still next to him and he wasn’t in his crib aka jail (to him). We also woke up to a literal blizzard outside! Now it’s time for Isaiah to have lunch. He’s become the number 1 picky eater these days. I try not to take it too seriously since I read it’s common at this stage. Everything he used to like is sorta on the back burner. I try to stick to things that I know for sure he will eat to reduce food waste. For lunch today I gave him a Gogo Squeeze, whole wheat Ritz crackers, sliced strawberries, and diced cheese. Most of this ended up on the floor. Even the strawberries which completely shocked me! So he insisted on having Craisins and a few Cheerios. Of course, I gave in because I just want the kid to eat! While all that was happening I took this time to wash the dishes and straighten up the kitchen. A clean kitchen always makes me feel good about myself… Am I the only one?
2-3 pm
I’m seriously wishing I’d snuck in a nap by this point. Isaiah’s energy doubles and triples as the day goes on. Some ways that I like to get rid of some of that energy is by having dance parties! Our DJ is on Youtube and his name is Dj Osocity . I like him because he plays a lot of dancehall and Caribbean music. I definitely want Isaiah to love the music and rhythm of his roots. If not this music, I’ll play a toddler playlist on Spotify. These parties only last for a while before he gets distracted by something. One of his biggest distractions and favorite toys is the Zany Zoo. It’s practically one of those wooden toys you’d find in the doctor’s office when we were younger. At least that’s how Dwayne explains it.
5 pm
As 4:30 started to hit I noticed Isaiah getting sleepy again (me too but that doesn’t count). As much as I enjoy cooking, I also enjoy not cooking. Yesterday for dinner we had Spanish food that I was able to reheat today. We had Arroz con gandules, chicken, and maduros. I added pees and some shredded cheese to Isaiah’s menu. He enjoyed a nice dinner with his dad this evening while I sprawled out on the couch to further work on a post. It also felt nice to not have to worry about so many things at once. I also wasn’t so hungry today but I ended up making a frozen pizza for myself.
6-7 pm
My kid loves to fight his sleep. He can be so exhausted and falling over but still will refuse to sleep. Today that wasn’t the case. Although he was tired, we didn’t want him to fall asleep too early which would result in waking up in the middle of the night (which happens all the time anyway). So after dad gave him a bath and a bottle to wind down they were able to just relax and wind down on the bed together. It was the cutest thing!
Isaiah is rarely ready for bed this early, his dad takes over for the night, and I get this much free time for myself. It felt like a holiday or something. Of course, I celebrated with a nice glass of wine. This week I’m into a Pinot Grigio instead of Cabernet. What about you? Any-who the rest of the night was relaxing and I did my usual night tings. One thing I do each night is call my mom and grandma. I know it’s mostly so they can talk to Isaiah but I find so much joy in it too!
I hope you guys enjoyed this super simple day of ours. What are you guys doing these days? How do you pass the time with your toddler at home? How do you relax on your own? Do we like these DITL posts? I have a couple more posts and some videos on my channel! Let me know in the comments below!

How do you find time to organize and clean the house while sneaking in naps? I find that there’s no time in the day when my 4-year old is constantly making messes ☹️
P.S. That breakfast looks very good btw 😋
