How to Gracefully Embarass Yourself at Work

Anyone ever break down in front of their coworkers? I have! There’s nothing greater than an embarrassing early morning freak out… Below are some of the ways that helped me out of my panic attack. Enjoy!

Understand your anxiety

Know what your triggers are. If you can avoid the panic/stress then do so. It’s much easier to control that way. If you are blindsided (which is always) then keep on reading!

Admit it

Tell yourself and someone else that you are currently experiencing some anxiety. If you aren’t close with your coworkers then kindly excuse yourself.

Dismiss yourself

Ask to take some time. Find somewhere quiet and to yourself. For me, that is the bathroom. No one needs to know what you are doing in there. If need be, don’t be afraid to ask for the rest of the day. You definitely can’t work if you are overwhelmed and bawling your eyes out!

Breathing/Grounding

Start taking some deep. ass. breaths. You should feel it in your belly! Notice your breathing. Breath in….. breath out. Also,img_6384 try using grounding techniques. I talked about this on my Instagram (@T_scorner). This will distract your mind and allow you to get yourself together.

Now if you’re like me you probably feel both better and crazy at the same time. Like wow, did that really just happen? It did. Now wipe those tears and get back to work like a badass!

Now, friends, this is what helped ME through my panic attack. Not everyone will find this helpful but I sure do hope it helps someone. Panic attacks are NOT fun especially when you aren’t in the comfort of your own home but it happens and all we can do is find ways to get through it. Let me know how you guys cope with anxiety in the workplace.

As always, thanks so much for reading! Questions, comments, and feedback are always welcome. Make sure to check out my Instagram for daily posts; @T_scorner 💋
