Everyone welcome today’s special guest, welcome to Izzy! Hi mama, how are you today?

So very tired and still getting over the flu.

How many children do you have?

2

How old were you when you had your first child?

20

Do you remember your initial reaction when you found out you were pregnant?

I was terrified and happy at the same time. I was never a huge fan of kids honestly and I never saw myself having them until I met my fiancee at the time. Then all I wanted was a mini us.

What first comes to mind when you think of mental health?

Depression. It can be really rough especially when you have kids because they rely on you to be present and ready for anything!

Do you suffer from any mental illnesses yourself?

Depression and anxiety.

How was your mental health before you became a mama?

I’ve had depression and anxiety since I was a kid.

How has motherhood changed or improved your mental health?

It has helped me stay out of my head. It keeps me grounded and brings me back to earth when I’m thinking crazy things.

How do you self care?

Hot showers and the occasional bath and wine.

Do you have any stories you’d like to share?

When I was pregnant with my first (Alex), I lost her father(and my fiancee) to an overdose a few days after Christmas. We had had a fight, so I went to my mom’s for the night. The next day I found him in our apartment. He had already been deceased for a few hours. That was a very difficult thing to go through especially being 5 months pregnant and losing the person I loved the most. The whole reason I had wanted kids in the first place. So many things ran through my head. Already being someone who suffered from depression and anxiety I really hit rock bottom. It was such a dark time for me. I almost feel as if that was a whole different life now

Advice for other mamas:

Every day is going to be hard, but keep up the hard work! Take in advice given but don’t feel like you have to use it. No mom is perfect, you can only do your very best and what you believe is right! Talk to other moms! Were almost all going through the same shit! Never stop learning. From yourself and others.

What’s the scoop on Izzy?

What’s your drink of choice?

Nowadays I love me some wine!

A favorite TV show?

I watch Shameless literally every day. I’ve seen the whole series at least 10 times now😂

What’s the cutest thing your kid has done?

My youngest Daisie doesn’t laugh often but when she does it’s the cutest little laugh ever!

Salty or sweet?

Salty

Pet Check!!!!!

I have two Siamese cats named Big dog and Little dog 🥰
