I can’t believe it. Our little guy is 6 months old today! I find myself saying each day that I still can’t believe Isaiah is my tiny human! Some days it doesn’t feel real. All I can do is just soak in all these moments and continue to make memories with our family.
Isaiah weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces when he was born. We haven’t been to our pediatrician yet for our 6 months check-up but at his last visit, he weighed about 16 and a half pounds. He more than doubled his weight which is awesome! We’ve also realized how tall he’s getting. He’s gotta be at least 22 inches now.
Update: Isaiah is 27 inches!!!
These days formula just isn’t cutting it for him. So in addition to that, we started giving him Earth’s Best rice cereal at 4 months and he took it like a champ. He demanded more! At 5 months we started adding jarred fruits. Again, it was a hit. Isaiah isn’t really a picky eater. So far he’s tried fruits like sweet potato and banana. His favorites are apples and pears. We’ve recently had to introduce him to prunes and switch from rice cereal to Gerber organic oatmeal to help get things running a bit easier.
Sleep. I love that word. I used to take sleep for granted. Up until about 3 months, Isaiah would not sleep anywhere but in our arms. I thought the bassinet was going to be a waste. Luckily for us, it did start getting easier and he would slowly go from taking naps in his bassinet to sleeping throughout the whole night in it. We were so happy. We were finally able to get sleep. Well, now Isaiah has outgrown his bassinet and has decided he only wants to sleep in our arms again. We are also having a bit of trouble transitioning him into his crib but I won’t lie, I do enjoy cuddling up with him at night.
Isaiah has been teething since he was about 3/4 months. Poor guy hasn’t even busted a tooth yet. We started with frozen teething rings and he absolutely hated it. They weren’t the right size for his mouth and he just couldn’t get it. So my mom suggested putting some crushed ice in a washcloth and let him gnaw on it. That worked great but you can only use ice for so long. We tried other teether toys and gels but nothing seemed to work for Isaiah. So I had to refer to my very last option, Infant Tylenol. Of course, it worked but I didn’t want to rely on this for him. I know other parents must know how easy it is to run out of Infant Tylenol.
I finally found our holy grail teether toy. Isaiah is obsessed with his Baby Banana Corn Cob Infant Toothbrush. He doesn’t ever get tired of it! I meant to pick up the original Banana Toothbrush but picked up the other one by accident. That’s okay though because it was still a great purchase.
Our baby boy is so freakin’ smart! It shocks me each day by how fast he’s growing in all aspects. Everything he does amazes us. I remember when he first started pushing up with his arms during tummy time or when he first rolled over at 4 months old.
He actually doesn’t hate tummy time anymore! I’m sure it’s easy peasy to him at this point. Now he prefers to sit up and he does it with ease! Although he still has some top-heavy moments and falls right over. Isaiah also likes to stand up and bounce on anyone’s lap he can get on. I can tell he’s ready to move. He gets upset when he tries to crawl but can’t really push forward. Instead, he pushes himself backward. It’s a little funny.
Don’t even get me started on the blabbing. My little guy is a talker. If he’s not blowing raspberries then he’s definitely shouting da-da-da at the top of his lungs. It’s so funny trying to have conversations with him because he doesn’t have a clue whats going on he just smiles and blurts out whatever comes to mind. It’s the cutest. I forgot to mention, he literally reaches for everything in sight. So we definitely have to keep an extra close eye on this guy.
Wow. 6 months. I still can’t believe it. Although we wish we were taking you out to see the world a bit more right now. We are still having such a blast watching you grow. As cliche as this sounds, it really feels like just yesterday you were born. Mommy and Daddy love you!
