Let’s give a warm welcome to Jasmine Starr H! Hi mama, how are you feeling today?

I have been pretty down today but trying to keep my spirits alive for Christmas.

How many children do you have? 

I have 2 and one on the way. A five-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

How old were you when you had your first child?

I was 19 years old!!! 

Do you remember your initial reaction when you found out you were pregnant?

I was shocked a little but I was a little nonchalant. 

What first comes to mind when you think of mental health?

how depression can last a lifetime, it sure feels like it for me .

Do you suffer from any mental illnesses yourself? 

I pretty sure I do but I have not been diagnosed with any.

How was your mental health before you became a mama? How has motherhood changed or improved your mental health?

my mental health was garbage. It has improved a little but there was so much going on in my life hat has never been addressed. It has crossover into my adult life now sadly. 

How do you self care?

I take hot baths, shave, do a little make up from time to time. 

Advice for other mamas:

Be the best mother that you can be , even if it feels like the world is on your shoulders! You are great! Your are beautiful! You got this!

ALSO…

Being a mother , especially a young, black one, is so hard . Sometimes i don’t even know what I’m doing it feels like . Motherhood is always a challenge and it’s a constant learning experience. No one has all the answers. As long as you are doing right by your child everything else is always going to fall in place.

 

What’s the scoop on Jasmine?

What’s your drink of choice?

I love coffee !! It’s such an addiction! I love ice coffee, hot coffee, Starbucks, McDonald’s! I spend too much money on it actually. As far as alcohol my favorite is Ciroc! The only drink I will drink. ! Think that’s what keeps getting me pregnant.

Do you have any favorite TV shows?

I love Shameless! Mainly because it’s based in Chicago. The last few seasons have gotten dry but it’s still a great show. I used to love The Walking Dead. Idk what the hell happened tho, it got ruined after season 6. I still watch seasons 1-5 tho.

What’s the cutest thing your kid has done?

Every time I cry or get upset, my 5-year-old son Darien always tells me it’s ok and hug and kiss me. I love him so much.

Do you prefer salty or sweet?

Salty, I HATE sweets.

What about pets?

I have two birds, winter and summer.
